J. Malcolm Bell, President and CEO, Director.
Managing Director of Malcolm Bell and Associates Ltd, a private Vancouver, BC company that arranges and sources capital for private and public companies engaged in renewable energy and technology ventures. Mr. Bell has over 30 years of industry experience either as principal, senior officer or director; 1980, founded Hi-Tec Resource Management Ltd, a well respected minerals exploration consulting company.
Hi-Tec made several key discoveries including the Kemess Mine currently being operated by Northgate Exploration Ltd; 1986 founded the International Investment and Business Opportunities Exposition, first trade show of its kind in Vancouver that provided private and public companies the opportunity to showcase their companies to an international audience; 1997, co-founded British Canadian Mines Ltd, the largest privately held mineral exploration company in Newfoundland, subsequently completed a $13 million reverse merger into publicly traded Canaco Resources Ltd; 2002 helped negotiate a $20 million merger between Olympic Resources and Whittier Energy Corp.; 2003, co-founded PB Energy Partners (now called ECO Logical Carbon Offsets Ltd); 2006 co-founded Linear Power Ltd and Green Well Renewable Power Corporation; President of St. Andrews and Caledonian Society, City of Vancouver (est. 1887); Member of the Vancouver Club.
P Nicholas (Nick) Geer F.C.A, Director
Nick is currently Chair of NavCanada, a private company which operates all air traffic control functions in Canadian air space, having served on the NavCanada Board since 2004. In addition Nick has served as a director of YVRAS for over 10 years.
YVRAS is owned by Vancouver Airport and Citi Bank Infrastructure Partners and manages 18 airports worldwide. Nick also serves on the advisory Board of a private venture capital group.
Nick has an extensive business background. He was managing Director and Vice Chair of the Jim Pattison Group, the third largest private company in Canada. Previous positions also include, President, CEO and Chair of Westar Group Ltd, President of Westshore Terminals Ltd and Managing Director and Vice Chair of Great Pacific Enterprises Ltd.
During his Presidency of Westshore Terminals Ltd he developed and spearheaded a flotation of a $700 million Income Trust, which was the largest of its kind at the time. Nick was Chair and President of ICBC from 2001 to 2004. ICBC is a BC Government Crown Corporation responsible for auto insurance in the Province of BC.
Nick was also a Director of Future Shop prior to its sale to Best Buy and a member of the State Street Global Advisory Committee. In addition Nick was a partner of the International accounting firm of Ernst and Whinney from 1971 to 1980.
In the area of nonprofit organizations Nick is currently on the Board of Collingwood School as well as Chair of its Foundation and serves as an Honorary Trustee of the Vancouver Foundation. He is also a past Chair of Outward Bound BC, Collingwood School and the Vancouver Estate Planning Council, a past Trustee of the Capilano College Fund and Past Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation. Nick is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and England and Wales.
Paul Matysek, Director
Mr. Matysek is an experienced geochemist/geologist with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Science degree in Geology. Mr. Matysek has held management and director positions with several natural resource exploration and development companies.
Most recently Mr. Matysek was the CEO and President of Energy Metals Corporation, a uranium company traded on New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange. Energy Metals became one of the fastest growing companies in Canada in the last two years having grown from a market capitalization of only $10 million in 2004 to $1.8 billion when it was sold to a larger uranium producer in 2007.
He has been involved in raising over $200 million for various exploration and development projects since 1999.
Robert A Young, BA, Director
Graduated from the University of Alberta BA in Urban and Physical Geography and Geology. For the past 38 years, President and CEO of the RAYA Group/Robert A. Young and Associates, a past director of marketing for Costco Wholesale. For the last 25 years, the RAYA Group has provided independent financial PR and corporate development services to many public and private companies, primarily in the fields of green technology, mining exploration, oil and gas and related technologies. The RAYA Group has worked in the field of electric vehicles (battery innovation/fast-safe battery charging breakthroughs), heating, cooling and ventilation with a unique innovation in HVAC technology, energy efficient wall systems for housing, water technology for agriculture (sensors) and water cut sensors for the oil industry, clean burning fuels/energy conservation technologies, the conversion of organic wastes to fertilizer, image compression and video conferencing. The RAYA Group has extensive contacts throughout Europe and North America.
D. Barry Lee, BA, Director, Corporate Governance Committee
Barry Lee specializes primarily in the energy sector, and has extensive experience in senior management, both in start-up companies and in oil and gas mergers and acquisitions. He has been involved in several successful domestic and international oil and gas projects, including Velvet Explorations and has provided strategic planning, corporate governance, and M&A expertise for the oil and gas and in related sectors over the past twenty-four years.
Barry is the founder and former president and CEO of Banks Energy Inc., and co- structured its merger with Arapahoe Energy Corporation to become Canadian Phoenix Resources Corp. (TSX-V: CPH), a consolidation platform for junior E&P companies in western Canada, where he is the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors. He cofounded, and is the former Chief Operating Officer of Choice Resources Corp., now merged with Buffalo Resources Corp. (TSX-V: BFR), and is a co-founder and the former president and CEO of Watch Resources Ltd., recently merged with Pearl Exploration & Production (TSX-V: PXX), a consolidator of heavy oil assets in eastern Alberta & Saskatchewan.
He is also currently a member of the board of directors of Velocity Minerals Ltd. (TSX: VLC).
